In Tarot, a group of college friends—Haley, Grant, Paxton, Paige, Madeline, Lucas, and Elise—celebrate Elise’s birthday by renting a mansion in the Catskills. During their stay, they discover an old tarot deck in the basement and decide to perform readings for fun. Each friend draws cards that ominously predict their fates. The next day, the group begins to experience gruesome deaths that correspond with their readings: Elise is killed by a monstrous version of The High Priestess, Lucas is struck by a train as The Hermit, and others meet similarly horrific ends.

Realizing they are being hunted by supernatural entities tied to the tarot cards, the survivors seek help from Alma Astryn, an occult expert. She reveals the dark history of the deck and urges them to destroy it. However, attempts to burn the cards fail as they are protected by the spirit of an astrologer who cursed them long ago.

As more friends die, Haley devises a plan to confront the curse by giving a reading to the astrologer’s spirit herself. In a climactic showdown, she successfully reads Death for the astrologer, breaking the curse and allowing her spirit to be freed. In the end, Haley and Grant survive and reunite with Paxton, who also escapes his encounter with The Fool.
