Jack Reacher (2012)

 

In Jack Reacher, a former military police investigator, Jack Reacher (played by Tom Cruise), is drawn into a homicide investigation when a sniper named James Barr is arrested for killing five people in Pittsburgh. Barr, however, insists on seeing Reacher and cryptically requests his involvement. After meeting with Barr’s defense attorney, Helen Rodin (Rosamund Pike), Reacher agrees to investigate the case further.

As he delves deeper, Reacher uncovers inconsistencies in the evidence that suggest Barr may not be the actual killer. He suspects that the true motive behind the shootings is tied to a local construction company and its owner, Oline Archer. Throughout his investigation, Reacher faces threats from corrupt law enforcement and dangerous criminals connected to the case.

The plot thickens as Helen is kidnapped by the real perpetrators, leading to a tense showdown at a quarry where Reacher confronts both the kidnappers and Barr. Ultimately, he discovers that Barr has no memory of the crime but feels guilty nonetheless. The film concludes with Reacher taking action against those responsible for the chaos while hinting at his ongoing journey as a drifter who seeks justice.
