Plot Summary
The story revolves around Ivana Taveres, a tall and newly divorced attorney who unexpectedly finds love with Ricardo Leon, a short widowed cardiologist. The plot kicks off when Ivana loses her phone at a coffee shop, leading to Ricardo finding it and calling her home phone. They agree to meet at the coffee shop the next day, where Ivana is surprised by Ricardo’s height.

As they begin to date, their relationship faces challenges stemming from societal perceptions about height differences in couples. Ricardo takes Ivana skydiving to help alleviate her stress; however, their date is cut short due to an emergency involving the Pope needing surgery. Throughout their relationship, they experience various ups and downs including family friction and prejudice regarding their height difference.

Ivana’s ex-husband Danilo adds tension as he mocks Ricardo’s stature and tries to manipulate situations to rekindle his relationship with Ivana. Despite these challenges, Ivana defends Ricardo against Danilo’s insults. However, misunderstandings arise that lead to a breakup between Ivana and Ricardo.

The climax occurs during Ivana’s brother’s wedding when she realizes how much external influences have affected her relationship with Ricardo. After confronting her family about their prejudices, she reconciles with Ricardo at the hospital where he works after a minor health scare involving her father.

In the end, both characters give speeches at the wedding reception held in the hospital and share a heartfelt kiss, symbolizing their acceptance of each other despite societal norms.

Conclusion
“Just Short of Perfect” addresses themes of love overcoming societal stereotypes while highlighting personal growth and acceptance within relationships.
