Plot Overview
“The Sorcerer and the White Snake” is a fantasy action film that revolves around the legendary tale of Madame White Snake. The story begins with Abbot Fahai, a powerful monk, and his assistant Neng Ren who encounter an ice harpy while on a mission to capture demons. Meanwhile, two snake demons, Susu (the White Snake) and Qingqing (the Green Snake), are intrigued by a human herbalist named Xu Xian. After Susu saves Xu Xian from drowning by kissing him, they develop a romantic relationship without Xu Xian knowing her true identity as a snake demon.
As their love blossoms, Abbot Fahai becomes suspicious of Susu’s true nature and warns Xu Xian that their union could lead to disaster. Despite this warning, Xu Xian marries Susu. However, during an altercation with Fahai’s disciples, Xu Xian accidentally injures Susu with a magical dagger. In his quest to heal her, he seeks a mystical herb located in Lei Feng Pagoda but inadvertently releases other demons in the process.
The climax of the film features intense battles between Fahai and the snake demons as they confront their beliefs about love and acceptance. Ultimately, after various trials and tribulations, Susu manages to restore Xu Xian’s memory through a heartfelt kiss before being trapped again within the pagoda.
