The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey

In 14th century England, during the devastating Black Death, a young boy named Griffin possesses prophetic visions that foretell doom for his remote Cumbrian village. To protect themselves from the plague, the villagers, led by Griffin and his older brother Connor, decide to dig a tunnel into the earth, believing it will lead them to safety and allow them to place a holy cross atop the tallest church in Christendom as an offering to God.

As they dig deeper, they unexpectedly break through into 20th century New Zealand. The film transitions from black and white to vibrant color as the villagers marvel at modern technology, interpreting it as a manifestation of divine wonders. However, Griffin is haunted by dark visions that suggest their quest may not end well.

Despite their awe of the new world, their mission remains paramount. They navigate through this strange environment while trying to fulfill their original goal. Ultimately, Griffin’s visions culminate in a tragic realization about fate and sacrifice when he confronts the reality of his own mortality linked to the plague.

The film explores themes of faith, duty, and the clash between medieval beliefs and modernity while maintaining an adventurous narrative.
