Guardians of the Galaxy V

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the story picks up shortly after the events of the first film. The Guardians—Peter Quill (Star-Lord), Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Baby Groot—are now recognized as heroes throughout the galaxy. They are hired by Ayesha, the High Priestess of the Sovereign race, to protect valuable Anulax batteries from an inter-dimensional monster known as an Abilisk. After successfully defeating the monster, Rocket steals some of the batteries for himself, leading to a conflict with Ayesha and her fleet.

As they flee from the Sovereign’s drones, the Guardians crash-land on a nearby planet where they meet Ego, Peter Quill’s long-lost father. Ego is a Celestial being who invites Peter and his friends to his home planet to learn more about his heritage. Meanwhile, Rocket and Groot stay behind to repair their ship and guard Nebula, Gamora’s estranged sister.

Ayesha hires Yondu Udonta and his crew to recapture the Guardians. Yondu has been exiled from the Ravager community for child trafficking but has a complex relationship with Peter Quill, whom he raised after failing to deliver him to Ego as a child. As tensions rise within Yondu’s crew due to mutiny led by Taserface, Rocket and Yondu manage to escape captivity with help from Kraglin.

On Ego’s planet, Peter learns that Ego has sinister plans involving his own offspring—many of whom he killed when they did not inherit his Celestial powers. This revelation leads to a confrontation between Peter and Ego after Peter discovers that Ego was responsible for his mother’s death.

The climax occurs when all members of the Guardians unite against Ego in a battle that culminates in destroying Ego’s core and ultimately killing him. Yondu sacrifices himself to save Peter during this fight, leading to an emotional farewell for both characters.

The film concludes with the Guardians holding a funeral for Yondu while welcoming Mantis into their team as they continue their adventures together.
