Fury (2014)

Plot Summary
Set in April 1945 during the final days of World War II, Fury follows U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Don “Wardaddy” Collier (played by Brad Pitt) and his crew of battle-hardened soldiers as they command an M4A3E8 Sherman tank named Fury. The film opens with Wardaddy and his crew—Boyd “Bible” Swan (Shia LaBeouf), Grady “Coon-Ass” Travis (Jon Bernthal), and Trini “Gordo” Garcia (Michael Peña)—facing the brutal realities of war after losing their assistant driver, Red.

To replace Red, they receive a new recruit, Norman Ellison (Logan Lerman), a typist with no combat experience. The seasoned crew initially harasses Norman, attempting to toughen him up for the harshness of war. As they engage in fierce battles against German forces, including a tense encounter with a formidable Tiger I tank, Norman struggles with the moral implications of killing.

The story intensifies when Fury is tasked with holding a vital crossroads against overwhelming odds. After sustaining damage from a landmine, the crew prepares for an imminent attack by a battalion of Waffen-SS soldiers. In the ensuing battle, one by one, Wardaddy’s men are killed, leaving only Norman and Wardaddy to fight back.

In their final moments together inside the tank, Wardaddy urges Norman not to surrender to the SS troops due to their brutal reputation. Ultimately, after Wardaddy is mortally wounded during the assault, he sacrifices himself so that Norman can escape. The film concludes with Norman surviving and being rescued by American forces while reflecting on the horrors he has witnessed.
