In Your Place or Mine, the story revolves around two best friends, Debbie Dunn (played by Reese Witherspoon) and Peter Coleman (played by Ashton Kutcher), who decide to swap homes for a week. Debbie, a single mother living in Los Angeles, is preparing to take an accounting course, while Peter, a successful businessman in New York City, is between jobs after a breakup.
As they navigate their new environments—Debbie in Peter’s bachelor pad and Peter taking care of Debbie’s son, Jack—they both experience life outside their comfort zones. Peter attempts to help Jack loosen up and enjoy life more, while Debbie explores her ambitions and meets new people in NYC.
