The movie “The Bride!” is an upcoming American science fiction-horror film directed, written, and co-produced by Maggie Gyllenhaal. It stars Penélope Cruz, Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film draws inspiration from James Whale’s 1935 film “Bride of Frankenstein,” which was adapted from Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel “Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.” The plot revolves around a lonely Frankenstein traveling to 1930s Chicago to seek the aid of Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself. They reinvigorate a murdered young woman, leading to the creation of the Bride. This sparks a combustible romance, attracts police attention, and ignites a radical social movement.
Principal photography for the film began in March 2024 in New York. Warner Bros Pictures is set to release “The Bride!” in the United States on October 3, 2025.
