The Invisible Man

Plot Overview: Cecilia Kass, portrayed by Elisabeth Moss, is trapped in a controlling and abusive relationship with her wealthy boyfriend, Adrian Griffin (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), a brilliant optics engineer. After drugging Adrian to escape his clutches, Cecilia seeks refuge with her childhood friend James Lanier (Aldis Hodge) and his daughter Sydney (Storm Reid).

Two weeks later, Adrian seemingly commits suicide and leaves Cecilia a substantial inheritance, but she suspects he has faked his death and is stalking her using an invisibility suit he created. As strange occurrences escalate—such as her work portfolio being tampered with and violent attacks—Cecilia’s mental state deteriorates under the weight of gaslighting.

Despite being dismissed by those around her, including James, Cecilia becomes determined to prove that Adrian is still alive and tormenting her. After enduring further trauma, including the murder of her sister Emily (Harriet Dyer) at the hands of the invisible figure, Cecilia finds evidence of Adrian’s invisibility technology.

After being institutionalized due to false accusations against her, Cecilia manages to confront Adrian in a final showdown. She ultimately kills him while making it appear as though he took his own life. The film concludes with Cecilia reclaiming her autonomy and leaving behind the trauma inflicted by Adrian.

Themes: The film explores themes of domestic abuse, psychological manipulation, and the struggle for empowerment in the face of overwhelming fear.
