Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker Brief Movie Story

Overview “Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker” is the concluding chapter of the Skywalker saga, following the events of “The Last Jedi.” Directed by J.J. Abrams, the film brings together familiar characters and introduces new ones as they face a resurgent threat from Emperor Palpatine.

Plot Summary The story begins with Kylo Ren, now Supreme Leader of the First Order, discovering a Sith wayfinder that leads him to Exegol, where he encounters Emperor Palpatine, who has returned and plans to unleash a massive fleet known as the Final Order. Meanwhile, Rey continues her Jedi training under Leia Organa’s guidance while Finn and Poe Dameron work to gather intelligence on Palpatine’s whereabouts.

Rey learns about a wayfinder that can lead them to Exegol from Luke Skywalker’s notes. The Resistance team—Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewbacca, BB-8, and C-3PO—sets off to find this wayfinder on the desert planet Pasaana. They encounter challenges along the way, including a confrontation with Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren.

After retrieving a dagger inscribed with Sith text that reveals the coordinates for another wayfinder on Endor’s moon, Rey faces Kylo in battle. During their duel, she learns about her lineage as Palpatine’s granddaughter. Following intense emotional moments involving Leia’s sacrifice and Rey’s self-imposed exile on Ahch-To, Rey ultimately confronts Palpatine on Exegol.

In an epic climax involving battles between the Resistance and Sith forces, Rey receives support from past Jedi voices that empower her against Palpatine. She defeats him but at great personal cost; Ben Solo sacrifices himself to revive Rey after she is fatally attacked by Palpatine.

The film concludes with Rey adopting the name “Rey Skywalker,” symbolizing her acceptance into the legacy of the Jedi as she buries Luke and Leia’s lightsabers on Tatooine.
