Jerry and Marge Go Large

Jerry and Marge Go Large is a comedy-drama film based on the true story of Jerry and Marge Selbee, a retired couple from Evart, Michigan. As Jerry approaches retirement from his long-time job at Kellogg’s, he feels unfulfilled and uncertain about his future. While perusing the rules of a lottery game called WinFall, he discovers a statistical loophole that allows him to almost guarantee winnings during specific “roll-down” weeks when the jackpot money is redistributed.

Excited by this revelation, Jerry convinces his wife Marge to join him in buying thousands of lottery tickets, leading to significant financial success. They form a community investment group called GS Investment Strategies, sharing their winnings with friends and neighbors, which revitalizes their small town by reopening businesses and funding local projects.

However, their success attracts the attention of Harvard students who also discover the loophole. Tensions rise as one student confronts Jerry, demanding he stop playing WinFall. Despite facing pressure, Jerry stands firm with support from his family and community. Ultimately, the Massachusetts Lottery shuts down WinFall due to media scrutiny, but Jerry and Marge return home as local heroes, having transformed not only their lives but also their community.

Conclusion
The film highlights themes of teamwork, integrity, and the importance of community while showcasing how one couple’s ingenuity can lead to positive change in their lives and those around them.
