During a week when he has custody of their two children—Giovanni and Bianca—Pietro discovers that they have mysteriously vanished from their home.

As panic sets in, he receives a ransom call demanding 150,000 euros for their safe return. With no means to pay the kidnappers due to his financial troubles, Pietro turns to an old friend named Nicola for help. Nicola offers him money but requires Pietro to engage in illegal activities involving drug smuggling.

While Pietro embarks on this dangerous mission to secure funds for his children’s ransom, he shares a moment of intimacy with Elena before she leaves for America. However, upon returning home after successfully completing the job and obtaining the cash, he finds his children unharmed at the breakfast table—completely unfazed by the supposed kidnapping.

Twist Revelation
It is revealed that Elena orchestrated the entire situation. She had drugged their children and hidden them away at her own place while feigning concern about their disappearance. She recorded Pietro during his frantic attempts to explain what happened and planned to use this recording against him in court to gain custody of their kids.

In a tense confrontation at the airport where Elena intends to take the children back to America, Pietro confronts her with evidence of her deceit. He blackmails her into relinquishing custody by threatening to expose her actions regarding drugging their children.

Conclusion
The film ends ambiguously as Pietro secures custody of his kids but is left contemplating his fractured relationship with Elena. In a poignant final scene, he sees a blurry figure outside his house that resembles Elena, leaving viewers questioning whether reconciliation is possible or if she will continue her manipulative ways.
