On Christmas Eve, Albert returns to Mumbai after seven years and meets Maria, a woman with a mute daughter named Annie. They spend the evening together, sharing their stories. Maria is in an unhappy marriage with an abusive husband, Jerome, while Albert is still coping with a breakup from seven years ago. As they celebrate on the streets of Mumbai, they return to Maria’s apartment only to find Jerome dead with a gun in his hand. Despite the initial shock, they later appear normal on the streets heading to attend Christmas mass.
