In the New England beach town of Amity Island, a young woman is attacked and killed by a shark during a late-night ocean swim. Police Chief Martin Brody closes the beaches, but the mayor insists it was a boating accident to protect the summer economy. When more attacks occur, including the death of a young boy, Brody teams up with a marine biologist and a shark hunter to hunt down the man-eating great white shark. Despite initial skepticism from local authorities, they set out to sea on a perilous journey to stop the deadly predator.
