Nicholas Angel, a highly dedicated police officer in London’s Metropolitan Police service, is transferred to the seemingly crime-free village of Sandford, Gloucestershire. He quickly becomes frustrated by the lack of crime and the incompetence of his colleagues. However, a series of gruesome deaths occur in the village, which Angel believes are murders. He investigates and discovers that the murders are being committed by the local Neighborhood Watch Alliance (NWA), led by Inspector Frank Butterman, who are trying to maintain Sandford’s image as “Village of the Year.” Angel eventually uncovers the truth and confronts the NWA, leading to a climactic shootout.
