The Shrinking of Treehorn

In 2024, “The Shrinking of Treehorn” follows a young man who begins shrinking in size after playing a strange board game. This unusual phenomenon goes largely unnoticed by his parents. The movie is based on Florence Parry Heide’s 1971 children’s book of the same name, which was illustrated by Edward Gorey. The story centers around Treehorn, a young boy who mysteriously starts shrinking one day, despite his parents seeming oblivious to the drastic change happening to him.

The film is described as a musical set in New York City during the holidays and is directed by Ron Howard, known for his acclaimed works such as “Frost/Nixon” and “A Beautiful Mind.” Rob Lieber, the screenwriter behind “Peter Rabbit,” adapted the script for this project. Originally set up at Paramount in 2019, “The Shrinking of Treehorn” has now been acquired by Netflix for distribution.

This animated feature promises to bring to life the whimsical and intriguing tale of Treehorn’s shrinking journey, offering audiences a unique and enchanting viewing experience that combines elements of fantasy, music, and holiday cheer.
