Overview “Kandahar” is a 2023 American action thriller film directed by Ric Roman Waugh, starring Gerard Butler as CIA operative Tom Harris. Plot Summary The story begins with Tom Harris successfully completing a mission to insert malware into an Iranian nuclear facility, causing it to self-destruct. However, his identity is compromised when a British journalist named Luna Cujai receives information about the CIA’s operations and is subsequently arrested by Iranian authorities. This leak leads to Tom’s cover being blown, forcing him to abort his mission in Herat, Afghanistan.
Tom is directed by his CIA handler, Roman Chalmers, to reach an extraction point in Kandahar within 30 hours. In a climactic series of events involving intense battles with Taliban forces and a final missile strike ordered by the CIA, Tom and Mo manage to escape on a British military cargo plane. The film concludes with both characters reuniting with their families after enduring significant hardships.
