A Tribe Called Judah

A Tribe Called Judah follows the life of Jedidah Judah, a single mother portrayed by Funke Akindele, who is raising five sons, each from different fathers and representing various tribes in Nigeria. The narrative begins with the introduction of her sons, showcasing their distinct personalities and challenges. While two of her sons, Emeka and Adamu, are responsible and supportive, the other three—Pere, a pickpocket; Shina, a hoodlum; and Ejiro, a carefree teenager—struggle to contribute positively to the family.

The plot thickens when Jedidah is diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, requiring an expensive operation and ongoing dialysis. As financial pressures mount, Emeka loses his job, prompting the brothers to devise a desperate plan to rob Emeka’s former boss, rumored to be involved in money laundering. However, their heist takes an unexpected turn when they encounter real armed robbers at the scene.

Throughout this tumultuous journey, themes of family unity, sacrifice, and resilience emerge as the brothers confront their individual flaws while striving to save their mother. The film culminates in emotional highs and lows that reflect both personal struggles and broader societal issues within Nigeria.
